Colin completes task 1 – the Prudential London –Surrey 100 mile ride

2018 Ride London Colin White OrtusAfter nearly 50 days of continuous sunshine, the heavens chose RideLondon event day to open the floodgates and rain down on the cyclists’ parade. Now in its sixth year, the event attracted almost 100,000 cyclists to the roads of London and Surrey as 26,720 people finished the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, 46 and 19 sportives.

Colin was among the 22,142 who completed the 100 mile sportive in drenching rain, dripping from head to toe and soaked to the skin he crossed the Finish Line on The Mall on Sunday afternoon. He almost didn’t make it, just 2 miles from the finish line having completed 98 miles without incident despite greasy wet roads and cyclists falling off on tricky corners, he got a puncture. 2018 Ride London Colin White FinishColin however, was prepared and changed his inner tube on the side of the road and completed the ride, smiling from ear to ear, “despite the rain, the crowds were out in numbers cheering everyone on, it made all the difference and helped me keep going when at times the rain was so heavy I could hardly see” said Colin after the race.

Colin has raised £1325 so far for Action Aid and his company Ortus will match contributions so the figure will effectively double.
